[Open-Xchange Server Edition Maintenance Announcements]

Dear Customers of Open-Xchange,
 
Today Open-Xchange releases Open-Xchange Server v.6.18.0. This Update includes new versions of
 
- Open-Xchange Server 6 (OX6), the common basis for the products OX HE (Hosting Edition) and OX SE (Server Edition), and the
- OXtender for Microsoft Outlook
- OX Client Updater
- OXtender for Business Mobility
 
This release presents a number of user interface improvements, including new Social OX usability, a more convenient category assignment, general usability enhancements and additional features making the interface easier to use and more appealing:
 
- Social OX – Publish & Subscribe features
- Convenient Category Assignment
- Significant Performance Improvements on Login
- Call History for the VoIP-integration
- Several features and functions improvements for all modules
- Many administration-, technical- and plug-in extensions
- New version of OXtender for MS Outlook®
- New version of OXtender for Business Mobility

Open-Xchange provides with the new version two main improvements which have to adapted by the administrator, necessarily:
 
- IMPORTANT:New Apache settings
New Open-Xchange user interface versioning requires some Apache directives. Further information about the settings are documented at the Installation Guides for the different platforms. 
 
-  Persistent Auto login / Enhanced Session handling
Open-Xchange introduces a persistent auto-login mechanism, which allows the user to decide, if he wants (for security reasons) to enter his login and password every time when he opens Open-Xchange, or if he wants to automatically log into OX from his computer ("Remember Me" functionality) as long as the session is available on the server. If the user selects this option, the session information will be stored in two different cookies in the browser and will be valid for a configurable amount of days.
 
-  JavaScript Auto-Versioning
An automated versioning of the JavaScript files has been implemented. With that enhancement it is no more necessary to clean the browsers cache after each Open-Xchange update, the browser will automatically recognize the new version and reload the necessary files.

The version number is the same for the groupware server and the groupware front-end.

- OXtender for MS Outlook
Version: v6.18.4 (2010-08-25)

The version number can be found 
a) in the splash screen when starting Outlook 
b) Extras -> OXtender for MS Outlook -> About

Version: v6.18.1 (2010-07-29)
